This November we’re hosting the fourth annual Killa Kanz, a 40K doubles tournament and canned food drive in support of Philabundance, a trusted food bank serving the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley region. The tournament is a doubles event (meaning every player will need a teammate), using the normal Matched Play rules for Warhammer 40,000, with all applicable FAQs, beta rules, and errata (including the change that understrength units can only be included in an Auxiliary Support Detachment and the limit of two of each non-troop/dedicated transport datasheet) as well as the Chapter Approved rules for Matched Play (Boots on the Ground, Objective Secured*, First Turn). Each player must bring a Battle-forged 1000-point army with no more than one detachment, for a total of 2000 points per team. Each player selects a warlord, and teammates’ armies do not need to share faction keywords with each other. There is no painting requirement and Forge World units using the rules from the most recent source are allowed.
Players must be present by 11:50 AM and a short dinner break will be held before the final round. Players must bring at least one printed copy of their army list, and have all necessary rules, dice, measuring devices, etc., at their disposal. All models must be WYSIWYG; proxies are permitted but must be very clear. Terrain house rules will be in effect: Models may only be placed where the base/hull fits. Solid terrain pieces provide cover if the entire unit is within 3″ and at least 25% obscured (this still applies if part of the unit is not visible to the shooting unit and further than 3″ away). There will be a variety of on-site give-aways held as part of the event. For every canned good a player brings, he or she will receive an in-game benefit during the event. A portion of each admission fee benefits Philabundance (along with all donated cans).
* Objective Secured applies only to Detachments with one of the following faction keywords in common: Adeptus Ministorum, Renegades & Heretics, and Genestealer Cults.
