Psst… We Give Free PDFs With Purchases For Many RPGs

Many of you have probably seen the little Bits & Mortar logo that’s been in the footer of our website for the last two years and wondered what it was. It’s actually a little known service we’ve been quietly offering for a long time. As it would happen, it’s a platform for us to get free PDF copies of RPG-related products for customers when they purchase those products from us. It doesn’t have support from many of the major publishers, but a staggering number of indie publishers use the platform to help customers support brick and mortar stores while still reaping the benefits of purchasing direct. Whenever you purchase a book from the likes of 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming, Bully Pulpit, Cubicle 7, Evil Hat, or Modiphius Entertainment (just to name a few), we may be able to get you a free PDF copy (emailed or downloaded to your thumb drive). You may be saying to yourself “but Redcap’s doesn’t really seem to carry much by those publishers”, and that’s true. We carry a fairly limited stock from most of these publishers, whose products tend to be a little more niche, but we can always special order these games for you, and–thanks to our account with Bits and Mortar–we can get you the PDF right away to sweeten the deal. Check out the full list of publishers on Bits & Mortar‘s site, and feel free to check with us about any product to see if we can get you a free PDF with purchase!

We Want Your Input on Scheduling New RPG Programs!

We have two new RPG programs coming soon, and we need your help figuring out when to schedule them (plus we’re considering a change to an existing program)! If you’re interested in playing any¬†of the following, please vote for any days of the week that would be convenient for you from among the following.

What day of the week should we run Numenera Cypher Play?

  • Monday (25%, 8 Votes)
  • Wednesday (25%, 8 Votes)
  • Thursday (25%, 8 Votes)
  • Sunday (25%, 8 Votes)

Total Voters: 21

Cypher Play¬†seasons are 17 weeks long, and feature 7 scenarios each, so we’ll likely run games roughly once every two weeks to get things started. For more information on Numenera, click here. We’ll probably jump on with season 3, which begins May 15th.

What day of the week should we run Starfinder Society?

  • Sunday (30%, 12 Votes)
  • Tuesday (23%, 9 Votes)
  • Monday (20%, 8 Votes)
  • Thursday (18%, 7 Votes)
  • Wednesday (10%, 4 Votes)

Total Voters: 21

Starfinder Society launches at Gen Con in August this year, and we plan to begin running the program as soon as we can thereafter. The program launches with three scenarios and adds one scenario per month thereafter, so we’ll likely only run it once per month to start. If we run it on Tuesdays, it will likely supersede Pathfinder Society one Tuesday per month (or otherwise correspond with a leaner PFS schedule that week). For more information on Starfinder, click here.

What day of the week should we run D&D Adventurer's League?

  • Thursday (45%, 15 Votes)
  • Wednesday (33%, 11 Votes)
  • Monday (21%, 7 Votes)

Total Voters: 29

We’ve been running Dungeons & Dragons on Wednesday evenings for a long time, but other stores in the area run Adventurer’s League on the same night. We have a little bit of wiggle room, so we wondered if Monday or Thursday might be more convenient for D&D players. Either way, the program will continue to run weekly.

Blood on the Altar

The newest expansion for Fantasy Flight’s Arkham Horror card game releases tomorrow, April 13th, 2017, and I’m pleased to report we’ll actually have a decent number of copies this time around! Since the game’s release, Arkham Horror card game products have been difficult to secure, culminating with us managing to stock just a few copies of the Miskatonic Museum and no copies at all of the Essex County Express, but we’ve managed to get our hands on significantly more copies of Blood on the Altar, and I don’t expect to have the same sorts of stocking issues going forward. We know there’s demand for the game, and the game’s shortages have been just as frustrating for us as they must have been for our customers! We’re doing our best to mitigate this rarity going forward! See you tomorrow!
