We’re running Geek & Sundry’s Tabletop Day again at the end of April, as we have every year since the program’s inception! Hosted again by Nicole Kline of Cardboard Fortress, Tabletop Day at Redcap’s is a bridge to Philadelphia’s vibrant world of game design. Over a dozen independent designers will be on-hand to showcase and teach some of the games they’ve designed, and of course the Bingo cards return, giving participants the chance to win prizes just by playing some of these incredible games!
It looks like Burn, Grixis Delver, and Goryo’s Vengeance won the day at the last Monday Night Modern. Now the question is who will take the top spots at the Grand Prix Trial this Saturday? The GPT for Vegas starts at noon, and I am excited to announce that we will be running 8 person side drafts of Modern Masters 2017 all day on demand. The drafts will be single elimination with the top two finishers in each pod winning prizes. First place in each pod will receive either three MM17 packs or entry to another MM17 draft held on the same day. Second place finishers in each pod will receive one pack of MM17. Saturday should be pretty hopping, so if you get eliminated from the GPT early, you’ll be able to draft this sweet new set.
We’re making some big changes to our Cedar Park location’s calendar this April. Check them out below.
Beginning April 4th, we’re launching a new casual Magic: the Gathering event to take place every Tuesday night, aimed at women, femmes, and the trans community! This is a casual open play night, during which players can enjoy whatever format(s) they prefer, and we’re even happy to facilitate drafts if the players are interested any given evening.
Friday Night Magic, which had previously been billed as a Standard tournament will be casual open play aimed at kids (roughly middle-school-aged) beginning April 7th, allowing players the freedom to play whatever format they’d prefer and to play against any opponents they’d like. This change better reflects the needs of our Cedar Park customers and should help to make the event more accessible to children.
Heroclix is returning to Redcap’s beginning April 10th! Every Monday evening we’ll be running a casual Heroclix open play and learn-to-play event. Even if you’ve never played before, but the idea of gaming with your favourite comic book characters piques your interest, feel free to show up and we’ll be happy to get you started! This is a kid-friendly event, but is open to players of all ages.
Other than that, we’re in the process of getting Kris certified as a Pokémon professor, so we can return our Saturday league to its official status and really begin pushing children’s Pokémon in the area again! Stay tuned!
It’s an exciting time for Pathfinder Society at Redcap’s! Right now we’re taking sign-ups for 2017’s Seelie Court, one of our two annual weekend-long PFS conventions, taking place May 12th to 14th. There are eight slots, and players can buy tickets to a single day or the entire weekend, an arrangement that should suit any weekend schedule. Players and GMs can earn special boons for their characters just by playing!
And on top of that, our regular Tuesday night Pathfinder Society games are now part of Paizo’s newly-revised Regional Support Program. That means that players can now earn special boons for their characters by playing at any of our Tuesday night PFS games too! Additionally, each time a GM runs a session at our night or any other RSP game day (such as at Compleat Strategist, for instance), he or she makes progress toward unlocking rewards on a special GM boon for the season.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks for the announcement of the date for this year’s summer Aid Another, and April’s PFS schedule should be live on Warhorn in the next day or two.
