Summer Camp

Redcap’s Corner runs a day camp program during the summers. Campers will spend the first week of each session learning to play a variety of tabletop games, and then stretch their brains by designing their own board game during the final week of that session. Below you can find detailed information about the 2018 summer camp season. Contact benn@redcapscorner.com with questions!

 

Basics

Calendar: Two-week sessions, Monday through Friday, 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Cost: $550 per session, or $500 for early birds (registration by the end of March)
Registration Closes: April 30th, 2018 at 11:59 PM EST
Counselor Ratio: One counselor to every five to ten campers
Location: 3850 Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104
Recommended Ages: Middle-school-aged children, roughly 11 to 13 years old
Amenities: The cost of each camper’s session includes daily snacks, starter product for each of the specialty games the camper will learn, and a personal copy of the board game the camper will design

Session 1: June 18th to 29th, 2018
Session 2: July 9th to 20th, 2018


Camp Schedule

A more detailed schedule and curriculum will be posted once we’ve finalized our preparations.

Week 1: Each day the camper will learn board games for half the day and a specialty game for half the day
Week 2: On Monday, there will be a professional board game designer on-hand to help campers for part of the day, but the entire week is dedicated to campers each designing a board game as part of a group


Counselors

Each of our counselors has a background in education or children’s programming, and has been cleared by FBI, criminal, and child abuse background checks.

Campers will learn to play many of the following board games and all of the following specialty games.

Board Games: Carcassonne, Coup, Dixit, Forbidden Desert, Karuba, King of Tokyo, Mysterium, Santorini, Survive: Escape From Atlantis, Ticket to Ride
Specialty Games: Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: the Gathering, Star Wars: X-Wing, Warhammer 40,000
