In-store events have only been back for about a week now here at Redcap’s Corner, but we’re already adding new options! As I’m sure everyone knows, we’re requiring players to show proof of vaccination in order to play in-store, and this is an important policy for keeping everybody safe, but we recognize that not everyone is actually able to be vaccinated, and it’s not our intention to be exclusionary. To that end, effective today, we’re introducing the option to play in certain events remotely, using a webcam. To begin, we’re offering this option only for Friday Night Magic* and Monday Night Modern each week, and we have only a single spot for remote play, but we plan to expand the number of available events pretty quickly as we work out the best method for handling each of them, and we’ll add more remote stations if we see the first one seeing consistent use. Use of the remote station isn’t restricted to any particular person or any particular reason, but our hope is that it will help with accessibility, with access for people who aren’t able to be vaccinated, and with options for people who maybe aren’t ready to congregate with groups of people yet. Please stay tuned for more developments!
* We’re preliminarily trying this out for FNM, but may not be able to do justice to multiplayer games with the current setup yet, so may scale back to just Monday Modern for a week or so.
